FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Increases Announced for January 5, 2009

December 8, 2008

ROSEVILLE, MN -- Pete Martin, President of Lakeville Motor Express, issued the following open letter to Lakeville Motor Express customers announcing rate increases to be effective January 5, 2009.

January 5, 2009

Dear Valued Customer:

Thank you for allowing Lakeville Motor Express to be your transportation provider.  Your continued loyalty and support make it possible for us to accomplish our mission of providing both value and quality service to you and your customers.  We sincerely appreciate your business.

Over the past year, we have made great strides to expand our service capabilities to better serve you, while at the same time, controlling escalating operating costs.  We have gained efficiencies thru technology, operating improvements, and productivity gains.

However, the past year has also seen significant increases in the cost of doing business that are not related to normal operating upgrades. Some escalating costs we are able to absorb while others, such as insurance are simply beyond our control.  Labor and benefit related costs have increased, in part due to a severe nationwide shortage of qualified drivers.

In order for us to provide the high quality of service required in today’s transportation market, we must increase our rates. Effective January 5, 2009, Lakeville Motor Express will take an approximate 6.0% general rate increase. This increase will apply to all of our tariffs, including discount tariffs, commodity tariffs, and our base rate tariff LKVL500. Minimum charges will be increased by approximately the same percentage.

As everyone is well aware, fuel costs remain volatile. Under the circumstances, Lakeville has determined that the only equitable approach in handling the fluctuating fuel prices is to continue the existing fuel surcharge program. This fuel surcharge will be reduced or cancelled when the price of fuel declines in accordance with our fuel surcharge table.

Thank you for your business and continued support.

Sincerely,

Pete Martin

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Reliance Network Covers the Continent
Averitt Express, Canadian Freightways/Epic Express, DATS Trucking, Inc., Lakeville Motor Express, Land Air Express, and PITT OHIO EXPRESS have come together to form The Reliance Network

March 1, 2008

Nashville, TN – Six carriers, known for their exceptional customer service, dependable on-time delivery records and strong reputation within their own territories, have formed The Reliance Network. This new alliance, effective March 1, 2008, will provide seamless, across the continent, LTL, truckload and supply chain freight services.

With more than 285 years of collective experience, the alliance companies are world-class transportation solutions providers that are collaborating to establish a seamlessly integrated network to further strengthen their across the continent services to North American customers.

The carriers in the new network are:
  • Averitt Express (South & Southeastern US)
  • Canadian Freightways/Epic Express (Canada)
  • DATS Trucking (West)
  • Lakeville Motor Express (Midwest)
  • Land Air Express of New England (New England)
  • PITT OHIO EXPRESS (Mid-Atlantic and Central States )
Instead of managing shipments with multiple carriers to service their regional, national and worldwide shipping needs, customers can work directly with their local Reliance Network member. Shippers now have the value of a strong chain of experienced transportation specialists while continuing to work with the provider they’ve already grown to trust.

“The Reliance Network offers our customers the benefit of a single-source provider for all of their North American freight shipping needs,” said Charles L. Hammel, III, Pitt Ohio’s President. “No matter where their freight is going, our transportation alliance is capable of adding value to our customer’s supply chain through the flexible and personal service of regional carriers who, together, can provide world-class coverage across the continent.”

Made up of strong, regional carriers, The Reliance Network erases the borders of each carrier’s regional boundaries, creating a unified across the continent coalition for all freight services.

Benefits

The Reliance Network carriers can provide to customers include:
  • More consistent transit times
  • A single-source provider for all North American transportation needs
  • The convenience of working with their trusted local transportation specialist to manage all of their door-to-door shipping needs rather than managing multiple carriers
  • Seamless coverage through hundreds of service centers across the continent
  • Expertise and exceptional customer service from more than 15,000 team members
  • Reliable transportation resources and efficient equipment, including more than 25,000 trucks and trailers
  • Commitment to dependable service with on-time delivery rates of 98% or higher
  • Complete, real-time shipment visibility from origin to final destination
  • Secure data management
  • Accurate administrative processes with full service PRO number tracking, tracing and invoicing capabilities
“This new alliance will leverage the superior synergies of six financially strong regional transportation companies into a seamless network serving the entire North American shipping community,” said Pete Martin, President of Lakeville Motor Express. “The Reliance Network is a fantastic opportunity for customers across the continent to use companies they already know and trust to expand their transportation reach.”

Bruce Simon, 2005 Minnesota Driver of the Year, pictured with his wife, Jill.

Roseville, MN – The Minnesota Trucking Association (MTA) has named Bruce Simon, a professional truck driver for Roseville-based Lakeville Motor Express, as the 2005 Minnesota Truck Driver of the Year.

Bruce, a city pick-up and delivery driver in the southern part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, has been an LME driver for over 28 years. A recipient of numerous honors, including two previous awards as MTA Driver of the Month, Bruce has compiled an outstanding driving record of over two million accident free miles.

“Our industry has many thousands of great individuals but you will not find a nicer, more dedicated person than Bruce Simon” commented John Wren, CEO of LME. John went on to add “I‘ve known Bruce since he was just a kid. He grew up surrounded by trucks and trucking was discussed all the time at the dinner table."

Trucking is certainly in Bruce’s family. His father Melvin, now retired, was a terminal and operations manager with LME for many years. One of Bruce’s younger brothers, John, is also a Lakeville Motor Express driver and a past recipient of MTA Driver of the Month honors. Bruce’s two other brothers and a sister are also in the industry. “It’s a family thing”, said Bruce with a smile.

Bruce and his wife, Jill, reside in Twin Cities suburb of South St. Paul. Most of Bruce’s off-duty hours are spent helping his wife raise their two daughters. Between girl scouts, soccer, basketball and the church choir, the girls keep Bruce and Jill active. Bruce also helps out in Jill’s business when he can - running errands, stocking shelves and filling orders. “It gets pretty busy,” admitted Bruce, “but it’s fulfilling.”

Founded in 1921, family-owned Lakeville Motor Express provides regional less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation services in nine states in the Upper Midwest.

Increases Announced for July 7

June 19 , 2003

ROSEVILLE, MN -- Peter Martin, President of Lakeville Motor Express, issued the following open letter to Lakeville Motor Express customers announcing increases for July 7, 2003.

June 19, 2003

Dear Valued Customer:

Thank you for allowing Lakeville Motor Express to be your transportation provider. Your continued loyalty and support make it possible for us to accomplish our mission of providing both value and quality service to you and your customers. We sincerely appreciate your business.

Over the past year, we have made great strides to expand our service capabilities to better serve you. At the same time, controlling escalating operating costs has been our number one priority. We have gained efficiencies thru technology, operating improvements, and productivity gains.

However, the past year has also seen significant increases in the cost of doing business that are not related to normal operating upgrades. Some escalating costs we are able to absorb while others, such as liability insurance (47% increase) are simply beyond our control. Labor costs, due to a severe nationwide shortage of qualified drivers remain a challenge.

In order for us to provide the high quality of service required in today’s transportation market, we must increase our rates. Effective July 7, 2003, Lakeville Motor Express will take a 5.9% general rate increase. This increase will apply to all of our tariffs, including discount tariffs, commodity tariffs, and our base rate tariff LKVL 500. Minimum charges will be increased by approximately the same percentage.

As everyone is well aware, fuel costs remain volatile. Under the circumstances, Lakeville has determined that the only equitable approach in handling the fluctuating fuel prices is to continue the existing fuel surcharge program. Increases Announced for September 1

August 22, 2000 -- Peter Martin, President of Lakeville Motor Express, issued the following open letter to Lakeville Motor Express customers announcing increases for September 1, 2000.

    August 22, 2000

    To You, Our Valued Customer,

Thank you for allowing Lakeville Motor Express to serve your transportation needs. We appreciate your business and constantly strive to provide value and quality service to both you and your customers.

We have worked diligently over the past year to expand our service capabilities to better serve you, while at the same time, controlling our operating costs. We have gained efficiencies through technology, operating improvements and productivity gains.

The trucking industry, however, is facing a severe shortage of qualified drivers. As a result, the cost of recruiting, hiring and training quality drivers has escalated. Both labor and non-labor operating costs have risen along with the costs of regulatory compliance.

In order for us to continue to provide the high quality of service required in today’s transportation market, we must increase our rates. Effective September 1, 2000, Lakeville Motor Express will take a 5.9% general rate increase. This increase will apply to all rates published in tariffs LKVL 601 and 615 including rates published in our commodity tariff LKVL 205. Minimum charges will be increased by $2.00 for our direct service area and by $3.00 on traffic moving in ExpressLINK territory.

Fuel costs in the latter part of 1999 and so far in 2000 have been volatile. Under the circumstances, Lakeville Motor Express has determined that the only equitable approach in handling the increase in fuel costs was to exclude the impact of increased fuel costs from our general increase to the extent that increase costs have been or could be recovered through the applicable fuel surcharge. This fuel surcharge will be reduced or cancelled when the price of fuel declines in accordance to our fuel surcharge table.

Thank you for your business and continued support.

    Sincerely,

    Peter Martin

    President
