LME Receives
Gold Award
in 2004 National Fleet Safety
Awards Program
May 18, 2005 |
 |
ROSEVILLE, MN -- Lakeville
Motor Express was presented a Gold Award by Great West Casualty
Company as part of the 2004 National Fleet Safety Awards Program.
"Our drivers deserve all of the credit", commented Scott
Schilling, Director of Safety and Compliance. "Their hard work,
dedication and the professionalism they display day in and day out
is reflected in this award".
The Fleet Safety Award Program drew over 400 entries from across the
country. Carriers were recognized for achieving low preventable
accident frequency per million miles of operation. The Fleet Safety
Awards program recognizes fleets in similar operations (truckload
and less than truckload) with awards based on their year-end
preventable accident results. The carriers then received a Platinum,
Gold, Silver or Participatory award..
Founded in 1921, family-owned Lakeville
Motor Express provides regional less-than-truckload (LTL)
transportation services in nine states in the Upper Midwest. LME,
based in Roseville, MN, serves a diverse customer base through an
extensive terminal network and a fleet of over 1150 tractors and
trailers. Complete coverage in the United States and Canada is
realized through LME's membership in the ExpressLINK service
network.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Increases
Announced for May 2nd, 2005
April 20, 2005
ROSEVILLE, MN -- Peter Martin,
President of Lakeville Motor Express, issued the following open
letter to Lakeville Motor Express customers announcing rate
increases to be effective May 2, 2005.
May
2, 2005
Dear Valued Customer:
Thank
you for allowing Lakeville Motor Express to be your transportation
provider. Your
continued loyalty and support make it possible for us to accomplish
our mission of providing both value and quality service to you and
your customers. We
sincerely appreciate your business.
Over the past year, we have made great strides to expand our service
capabilities to better serve you, while at the same time,
controlling escalating operating costs. We have gained efficiencies
thru technology, operating improvements, and productivity gains.
However, the past year has also seen significant increases in the
cost of doing business that are not related to normal operating
upgrades. Some
escalating costs we are able to absorb while others, such as
liability insurance (38% increase) are simply beyond our control. Labor related costs have
increased, in part due to a severe nationwide shortage of qualified
drivers.
In order for us to provide the high quality of service required in
today’s transportation market, we must increase our rates. Effective May 2,
2005,
Lakeville Motor Express will take a 5.5% general rate increase. This increase will apply to
all of our tariffs, including discount tariffs, commodity tariffs,
and our base rate tariff LKVL500.
Minimum charges will be increased by approximately the same
percentage.
As
everyone is well aware, fuel costs remain volatile. Under the circumstances,
Lakeville has determined that the only equitable approach in
handling the fluctuating fuel prices is to continue the existing
fuel surcharge program. This
fuel surcharge will be reduced or cancelled when the price of fuel
declines in accordance with our fuel surcharge table.
Thank you for your business and continued support.
Sincerely,
Pete Martin

Increases
Announced for September 1
August 22, 2000 -- Peter
Martin, President of Lakeville Motor Express, issued the
following open letter to Lakeville Motor Express customers
announcing increases for September 1, 2000.
August 22, 2000
To You, Our Valued
Customer,
Thank you for allowing
Lakeville Motor Express to serve your transportation needs.
We appreciate your business and constantly strive to provide
value and quality service to both you and your customers.
We have worked
diligently over the past year to expand our service
capabilities to better serve you, while at the same time,
controlling our operating costs. We have gained efficiencies
through technology, operating improvements and productivity
gains.
The trucking industry,
however, is facing a severe shortage of qualified drivers. As
a result, the cost of recruiting, hiring and training quality
drivers has escalated. Both labor and non-labor operating
costs have risen along with the costs of regulatory
compliance.
In order for us to
continue to provide the high quality of service required in
today’s transportation market, we must increase our
rates. Effective September 1, 2000, Lakeville Motor Express
will take a 5.9% general rate increase. This increase will
apply to all rates published in tariffs LKVL 601 and 615
including rates published in our commodity tariff LKVL 205.
Minimum charges will be increased by $2.00 for our direct
service area and by $3.00 on traffic moving in ExpressLINK
territory.
Fuel costs in the
latter part of 1999 and so far in 2000 have been volatile.
Under the circumstances, Lakeville Motor Express has
determined that the only equitable approach in handling the
increase in fuel costs was to exclude the impact of increased
fuel costs from our general increase to the extent that
increase costs have been or could be recovered through the
applicable fuel surcharge. This fuel surcharge will be
reduced or cancelled when the price of fuel declines in
accordance to our fuel surcharge table.
Thank you for your
business and continued support.
Sincerely,
Peter Martin
President
