Difference Between Liability And Comprehensive Insurance

Comprehensive coverage protects your car from damage caused by incidents other than collisions. Liability covers property damage and injuries that you cause to others in an accident.

Liability covers damage done to other vehicles when you are at fault in an accident, but it doesn’t cover any damage done to your own vehicle or injuries sustained by yourself or passengers. Liability coverage pays only for damage or injuries when you cause an accident that results in someone else’s property damage or injury to another person.

Comprehensive coverage protects your vehicle from losses other than collisions such as fire, theft, vandalism, hail, and falling objects like trees or rocks. It also provides coverages such as medical payments and uninsured/underinsured motorists protection if someone without insurance hit them which causes serious bodily injury or death.

The only thing comprehensive does not cover is damages resulting from collisions with animals like deer or moose. So if you want more protection than just liability insurance offers, then comprehensive might be right for you.You may want more comprehensive coverage if your car has a high value

Comprehensive coverage will pay out more money after a total loss due to theft or weather-related events like hail storms. The deductible is typically higher than liability insurance but lower than collision deductibles, meaning you would have to pay less out of pocket before receiving benefits from the insurer should something happen to your vehicle.

Keep in mind that there are certain state requirements regarding minimum levels of auto insurance coverage; check with your local department of motor vehicles (DMV) office for details about what kind and how much coverage is required where you live.

Finally, don't forget to shop around every few years since premiums change frequently based on factors like age, driving record, and location, even if nothing else has changed about your situation
