How To Replace A Rear Window

Repairing damaged rear auto glass yourself is no doubt very cheaper than having the replacement done commercially. Most people would replace their broken windows when they see scratches or cracks, even if this does not affect their functionality!

With the advancement in window design and installation techniques, it is now possible for car owners to install their own auto glass with ease. Whether you're a professional or not, if you have basic knowledge of glass installation in windows, it is going to be very easy for you.

Step 1

First of all, you will need to remove any wires that are connected to the rear window defroster, then use a razor blade around all of your seals and adhesives to remove it. Don’t panic, as this procedure is very easy fr any type of vehicle.

Step 2

Now the old window is out so get ready to install the new one. It's time to remove the urethane sealants from its groove or sandpaper if required. Ensure that you have all the things handy before starting the process.

Step 3

When installing your new window, use a caulk gun to apply a thin line of urethane sealant around the inside edge. Then carefully trace where you want this piece of trimming before cutting it out with precision tools like knives or chisels for an exact fit.

Step 4

Set the new window into place so you can see how it fits. Then let that urethane set and harden for 12-24 hours before removing any excess sealant with a soft brush or cloth, then replace trim pieces as needed
